Purpose

To provide direction as to what I will, and will not, provide in terms of a Co-operative Education Application Reference

What I will provide

1. I will comment on what I know of you and your work. If I only know you through labs, then my commentary will be limited to that experience.
2. I will provide only truthful statements. I will not lie about your abilities, or fabricate any qualifications in order to ensure you get accepted to co-op. You enter on your own merits.
3. I will provide the reference directly to the recipient (presumably, a director in the co-op program); I will not provide it directly to you, as it is possible to scan and alter documents far too easily - this would impair the integrity of the reference process.

Note: if I have previously caught you in an act of academic dishonesty (a violation of academic integrity), I will not provide a reference for you for any reason whatsoever. I cannot recommend anyone who cheats to gain an undeserved position.
